I have pointed out that the qualifications for the competent vocal teacher should include a thorough knowledge of acoustics, anatomy, physiology, psychology, musicianship and interpretation, and diction. I have also asserted that no one who fails to comply with these educational requirements should be permitted to teach vocal technic. In view of the fact that most of the prominent vocal teachers of today have embraced this profession by reason of the fact that they were at one time professional singers, or because they could compose, accompany, coach etc. I am afraid that the qualifications I suggest would bar most of the members of this profession. |
